Vadakkunathan Temple

Vadakkunathan Temple is the most famous temple in Thrissur. Thrissur owes its name to Sri Vadakkunathan, the Lord Shiva. Located in the heart land of Thrissur, the prime deity in the temple is Lord Shiva with many other idols placed in and around. Placed in a picturesque hillock, the temple has beautiful surroundings and is included among one of the oldest temples in Kerala.

The most popular festival of Kerala, Thrissur pooram is hosted by Vadakkunatha temple. The temple promotes many temple arts and cultural performances. The architecture of the temple depicts traditional Kerala Style, also housing many mural paintings and art forms.
